Environmental Therapy Offering
We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us. —Winston Churchill
Thoughtful design can literally change the way we live. Every environment we spend time in has the opportunity to either enliven or dull us, and I believe all spaces—especially our home habitats—should help bring us more alive. By more alive I mean more free to create, more calm, more energized, more present, more mentally spacious, more grounded, more generous in spirit, more inspired to seek the good, more reflective in our daily life of a rich, centered, inner and outer life. In working together to mindfully alter and improve various elements of your environment, your most important living spaces can help spark the everyday, incremental changes towards more aliveness that you desire.
“The best environment is one in which each person can become as alive as possible - that is as vibrant intellectually, physically, morally, and in which people can reach, as far as possible, their own potential as human beings.” —Christopher Alexander
Working together
Sessions can look a variety of different ways, but in many cases, they will involve:
Observing your space together; thinking about what works well and what might be missing.
Exploring how your living spaces are encouraging you, and/or dragging you down. Finding key ways to expand on the positive elements and diminish the negative ones.
Brainstorming/dreaming/imagining together what you want your environment to do and be for you.
Working together to articulate your own personal vision and style for your space(s).
Identifying specific changes and improvements that can be made, and how.
Looking at possibilities for sourcing, and taking tangible movements towards finding the right pieces for your home.
Step-by-step styling assistance, figuring out the best placements for flow, livability, beauty, and function.
Above all, I aim to be a trusted advocate, inspiring and drawing you towards your most curious, creative, innovative self, and helping translate your unique character into your surrounding environment.
Most sessions at this time are virtual, although select packages include in-person sourcing and styling.
I offer many different options for working together, in addition to customizable packages designed towards your specific needs. If you’d like to explore working together, please reach out at: juliepointer (at) gmail.com
CLIENT TESTIMONIALS:
KATHERINE— “Working together took some of the pressure off me to think I had to do it all myself. It felt wonderful to release control and outsource ideas for my home to someone whose job it is to curate, observe, reflect and design beautiful spaces to be in. Julie quickly was able to take a few of my inspiration images and pull together rooms and items that would have taken me years to sit down and collect. The rooms we worked on definitely feel different to the other rooms in my house because they've been considered rather than just slapped together. I'd recommend working with Julie if you're feeling overwhelmed with your own space- if you have ideas and visions but can't seem to quite pull them together yourself and need a bit of accountability. Plus, it was fun!”
EMMA— “We moved into a new home with a large living room that we hoped would become the cozy, welcoming heart of our space. But at first, it felt bare—lacking the comfort, personality, and sense of "home" that I so deeply wanted. Julie helped turn my fuzzy, disparate ideas into a clear vision that not only looked beautiful but felt like us. She is incredibly talented at understanding both clients and spaces—and bringing them fully to life. Collaborating with Julie was an absolute joy. She thoughtfully showed us how to highlight pieces we already loved, while also providing visual inspiration and shop-able links to complete the space effortlessly. Thanks to her, our living room now feels warm, inviting, and uniquely ours. I would have been completely lost without her expertise and can't wait to work with her again in the future. If creating a home that feels as good as it looks is important to you, I couldn’t recommend Julie more highly.”
